How to play CaperTrails

Solve the crime one minute at a time.

Everything you need is on the map and in the clues. Your job is to find the only route—or routes—that make every detail true.

01

Read the case

Start with the objective

Note the crime location and time, then identify exactly what the case asks you to prove.

Study the map

Every square is one minute

  • Move one block horizontally or vertically.
  • Never move diagonally.
  • Never enter a blocked square.

03

Follow the clues

Turn words into constraints

Times, positions, directions and passing-through clues remove impossible routes. Use every clue together.

04

Reconstruct the routes

Advance the clock with each block

Draw or test each possible move. Unless the case says otherwise, a route cannot revisit the same cell.

Solve the case

Submit the verdict that fits everything

Path, Hideout and Crossing cases ask for different verdicts, but the principle stays the same: every clue must be true.
